Eelco van der Wal's journey with PLCopen began in 1992 when he co-founded the organization.

2. Meet us at the SPS 2023 in Germany

PLCopen will have a booth in Hall 5 #141 at the upcoming SPS in Nuremberg from 14-16 November.
We invite you to make an appointment to meet us in person and discuss your topics. For this email Eelco van der Wal at evdwal@PLCopen.org.

Also, we organize a get-together on our booth in cooperation with the OPC Foundation on the first day starting at 17:00. We would love to meet you there and introduce the new Managing Director of PLCopen.

Over the past 30 years PLCopen has created specifications that were relevant for the industrial automation industry. Now we need to identify the topics for the future. Your topics! For that we need your help. Therefore, we will be conducting a short survey at the SPS. Come and find out at our booth #141 in Hall 5.

4. Enhancing the PLCopen Coordinated Motion Specification for 6-axes Robots

The PLCopen working group for Motion Control elaborated on the standardization of coordinated motion for 6-axes robots. This extension to the existing PLCopen Coordinated Motion document is well on its way. Major decisions have been made and will be reflected in upcoming versions of the document.
The working group will get together for a face-to-face meeting after the SPS event to continue the work.

The Robot Library adds configuration functionalities and defines an interface to the different robot suppliers. The essence for PLCopen is to incorporate these functionalities in the existing PLCopen Motion Control standard while maintaining the same “Look & Feel” by providing backward compatibility as support for different kinematics, as well as the integrated versus distributed architecture.
